It's a wrap...in time for Christmas!

A-MA-ZING!!! It's hard to sum up this term and the concerts in one word but I think that's pretty good. The Easton and Westbury concerts were inspirational...for Geraldine and Emma who got to lead the choirs, for the audiences...oh and I do believe for many in the choir! We haven't got any pics from Easton concert at moment, hopefully they will arrive soon! In the meantime, here are a couple from Westbury on Thursday night...

Well, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2012!

Three Become One - Part 1

Wow...what a fantastic start to our concerts! Wednesday 7th December was officially the first time all three GGCC choirs sang together and what an A-MA-ZING sound it was! The acoustics in St Edyth's, Sea Mills were brilliant so our packed audience were treated to beautiful performances by soloists, small groups and each of the choirs on their own. The songs sung by all three choirs together worked so well, many have commented on how moving it was to sing with everyone together and produce such a lovely sound. I suspect the audience were almost literally blown away by the high quality of singing, the beaming faces and energy that came towards them throughout the evening. Oh and we got to sing in the dark...with GLOW STICKS!!! It did look really effective, well done everyone for coping with the bracelet moves!!!

The great thing is we get to do it all again on Sunday 11th @ St Mark's Baptist, Easton. 6.30pm. Can't wait! In the meantime here are a couple of pics from Wednesday for you!

Looking lovely in our pinks and reds during our run through!

GGCC on the road!

Well, what a great week or so we've had. Wednesday we had a fabulous social at Shirehampton, another great spread of food, thanks so much to everyone and also to everyone who helped clear up!

Saturday, GGCC took Bristol by storm as 20 folk from the Easton & Westbury choirs sang at the St Werburgh's City Farm Christmas fair and a group from the Shirehampton choir sang at a Christening in North Bristol! Emma led at the City Farm and quite literally had to dodge smoke as they sang around the fire in the paddock! Everyone sang so well and gave lots of smiles at the same time, well done to all. Hope you enjoyed your free mulled wine! Geraldine led the Shirehampton crew at the Christening and Em hasn't had the lowdown from her yet so we'll maybe include that in a future post so watch this space. In the meantime, here's a pic of us at the city farm.

Looking forward to this week's rehearsals...first concert is only 10 days away now!

X Factor steals our song!!!

Ok, it's a bit of an exaggeration...they didn't "steal our song"! But Marcus Collins did happen to be singing "Higher" on Saturday night's show. Here's a link if you didn't see it http://youtu.be/TRmLgIdA7i8. Check out the choir moves by the way, maybe we could give them a try?!!

Looking forward to catching up with Westbury GGCC tonight, it's gonna be fab!

Enjoy rest of Tues!

Meet the Westbury gang!

Well we thought it was only fair that we include a pic of the Westbury GGCC, so here they are:

It was their turn for a social last night and a fantastic spread was provided! Thanks so much to everyone who brought food and drink. Geraldine and Emma are finding it really tough that they are going to be at all three socials and get to eat all the yummy food!

We're really looking forward to the three choirs all meeting each other soon when we perform together in the concerts. But some might get to meet each other sooner as Westbury & Easton GGCC go on the road (yay!) and sing at the St Werbergh's City Farm Christmas fair on Sat 26th Nov. That same day the Shirehampton GGCC will be singing at the Baptism of one of their member's daughter (they don't know this yet, we'll tell them tonight!). It's so exciting when we get to share the fun of GGCC with others!

So, we have our first concert in three weeks time...gulp! Posters will be out by the end of today hopefully so you can all get inviting your friends and family. We can't wait!

Bye for now!

Week 6...the socials begin!

Well it's been an exciting rest of the week. Following the fun at Westbury Baptist on Tues we had fantastic rehearsals at Shirehampton and Easton. I tried to take some pics to capture something of our times...haven't quite done them justice but here's a peek into the life of the Shirehampton GGCC...prizes for anyone who can guess which song we're singing!

Working hard...

Then on Thursday Easton GGCC had their social...a yummy lunch prepared by one of their members Kym. After a good choir workout everyone was definitely ready to eat! Here's the Easton gang...

Geraldine is in there somewhere...prizes if you can spot her!!!

So, we hope you all have a great weekend, practising you "Lif" and "ting"s!!! Next week it'll be the turn of the Westbury gang to be on camera!

Thank you Westbury Baptist!

Well last night Westbury GGCC went on the road...up the road, down the hill and right...to Westbury Baptist Church! We couldn't meet at Cairns so WBC came to our rescue. What a great night we had! Lovely building, great acoustics and top sound from the choir...even left Geraldine speechless! We now have just three rehearsals left before our concerts, but you know what, we're gonna be ready, especially if last night is anything to go by.

Looking forward to Shirehampton tonight and Easton tomorrow...we get to go to all three choirs and see how amazing they all are!

Oh and you'll be pleased to know I don't smell of sausages anymore!

A story to encourage

Hello on this wet Thurday morning! I've just received this story and have been given permission to share on the blog...it's a story that I'm sure will bring encouragement...

"I would like to say that I was encouraged to come to Shire choir in April/May when i was deep in bereavement, having lost the most wonderful partner just before Christmas.  I was widowed 12 years ago and met this gorgeous guy at church two years later. We had a wonderful ten years together and this second loss has been so hard to take – still is in many ways.  But, I can truly say that I come home on a Wednesday evening and am able to say “I enjoyed that” and I haven’t enjoyed much since Christmas last year.  So thank you. "

We love being part of GGCC!

Stay dry!

It's half term!

Well it's hard to believe we've had four weeks of the GGCC term already. This week we're having a bit of a break while the schools enjoy their half term hols.

All the concert dates have been finalised now...yay! First is Wednesday 7th Dec, 7.30pm @ St Edyth's Church, Sea Mills. Second is Sunday 11th Dec, 6.30pm @ St Mark's Baptist Church, Easton and third is Thursday 15th Dec, 7.30pm @ Cairns Road Baptist Church. We're looking forward to the challenge of fittting a choir numbering up to 140 into each of those spaces, and having room for audiences!!! We'll be sending posters for the concerts out soon...but you can start inviting your friends and family now! We have coaches booked to transport the Shirehampton gang to the Easton and Westbury Park concerts and are looking to book transport for the Easton guys/gals to get to Sea Mills and Westbury Park.

Our last couple of rehearsals have been fab...so impressed with how quickly everyone is picking up the songs and coping with slightly unsual lyrics like "behold he comes, riding on the clouds, shining like the sun at the trumpet call"...where would we all be without Geraldine's top actions eh! Don't forget if you need  words to any songs, drop Emma an email gospelgen@googlemail.com.

Well we're looking forward to the countdown to our concerts...each choir is having a social next half term too, it's a hard life having to eat some food together!

See you next week!

We have blog!

Well here it is, the official first GGCC blog. For those of you who have no idea who we are; we are the Gospel Generation Community Choir - GGCC for short. As the name suggests, we are a gospel choir, for all generations, a growing community within different communities in the wonderful city of Bristol.

We have three choirs, GGCC Easton, GGCC Shirehampton & GGCC Westbury Park. If you'd like any info on any of these choirs then email Emma gospelgen@googlemail.com .

We are now in week three of this term's rehearsals and we've already had so much fun!

The Westbury park gang have been enjoying the new carpet @ Cairns Road Baptist Church. The Easton gang have been crying out for "Help!" and the Shire gang have won the prize for sparkly eyes when singing!

What will happen next week?
